Jonathan Swain in March 1999 Gramophone - "...a very desirable mix of modern facility...and old-fashioned manners. The sound is intimate but open, with just enough resonance enhancing timbre".

Virtuoso American violinist, Rachel Barton follows her best selling disc of Concertos by Black Composers with this spectacular recording of violin display pieces on satanic themes. Miss Barton's ex-Lobkowitz Amati violin is presented to special effect in these splendid Bill Maylone recordings.

Michael Quinn in February 1999 Gramophone - "...Barton herself, who has a keen and nimble technique ably expressed in a fiendishly demanding programme."

Julian Haylock in February 1999 The Strad - "This fine collection of some of the thorniest virtuoso violin works with 'devilish' connections is by any standards a formidable undertaking...It's the kind of disc that as Barton's career develops will surely become something of a collector's item.

Robert Maxham in January/February 1999 Fanfare - "...the larger-than-life presence the engineers have accorded the performers, enhance the appeal of a release that deserves a place in every violinist's library. A frightfully good, thoroughly entertaining fire and brimstone recital...hotly recommended".

A sparkling collection of wind trios by French composers, played by leading members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. One of Cedille's customary audiophile-quality recordings by celebrated WFMT engineer, Bill Maylone, captures these fine musicians clearly enjoying the opportunity to play and record outside their normal orchestral confines.

David Denton in January/February 1999 Fanfare - "A very attractive program of French music...that offers a mini-feast of Gallic appeal, piquant charm, and those naughty harmonies that fascinated French composers in the earlier part of this century...The Chicago Chamber Musicians is a very fine group of musicians who dispatch the most taxing passages with an effortless ease...".

Andrew Achenbach in March 1999 Gramophone - "High-class wind playing, realistically engineered...Their impeccable sense of teamwork and enjoyment are infectious throughout."

Paul A Snook in July/August 1999 Fanfare - "This generous sampling of four major orchestral scores certifies that Kvandal is one of most knowing and impeccable craftsmen in Nordic music...Performances are exceptionally convincing and idiomatic, given that they emanate from St Petersburg and not the composer's native country...No collection of Scandinavian music can be without this significant and very satisfying release."
